Curriculum
Curriculum in Our Under 3s
In our Under 3 rooms, our staff team plan and deliver experiences in line with the national guidance Realising the Ambition: Being Me. This document supports high-quality early childhood education, with a strong focus on child development, nurturing care, meaningful interactions and enriching learning environments.
We understand that the earliest years are crucial in shaping a child’s future wellbeing and development. Our caring and experienced staff welcome each child as an individual, taking time to build secure attachments and ensure they feel safe, valued and happy within our setting. A strong key worker approach allows us to respond sensitively to each child’s needs and routines.
We work in close partnership with families, recognising that you are your child’s first and most important educator. By sharing information about your child’s interests, milestones and achievements, we support their growth and development together.
Our curriculum is play-based and responsive, rooted in children’s natural curiosity and desire to explore. Through carefully planned experiences and high-quality interactions, we support development across key areas including:
• Wellbeing – encouraging Social, emotional and communication development
• Movement and Coordination – developing gross and fine motor skills through active play, exploration and sensory experiences.
• Creativity and Curiosity – encouraging children to investigate, explore materials and express themselves through imaginative play.
• Early Literacy and Numeracy – supporting communication, early language development, listening skills and early mathematical concepts through songs, stories, rhymes and everyday experiences.
We provide calm, stimulating environments both indoors and outdoors, designed to promote independence, confidence and a love of learning from the very beginning.
Our 3–5 Curriculum
In our 3–5 rooms, our experienced staff team plan and deliver learning experiences in line with A Curriculum for Excellence. Our approach supports every child to develop as a:
• Successful Learner
• Confident Individual
• Responsible Citizen
• Effective Contributor
We believe that children learn best when they are actively involved in their own learning. Through meaningful partnerships with our children, we encourage them to share their ideas, interests and curiosities. These interests form the foundation of our planning, ensuring learning is relevant, engaging and enjoyable.
Our curriculum begins with the individual child. We carefully observe, listen and respond to each child’s unique needs, strengths and experiences. By building on what children already know and love, we create rich, purposeful learning opportunities that promote curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.
Learning takes place through high-quality play experiences, both indoors and outdoors. We provide a wide range of stimulating environments and teaching approaches that are appropriately challenging, motivating and designed to support progression. Children are encouraged to explore, investigate, problem-solve and collaborate with others.
We use imaginative and child-friendly ways to gather children’s views about their learning, ensuring they feel valued and empowered in shaping their own experiences. By working in close partnership with our children and families, we create a nurturing environment where every child feels supported, engaged and inspired to achieve their full potential.
